I've first gotten into blacksmithing about seven years ago and I've been doing it as a hobby for most of that time. I've mainly been interested in swords and knives, although I enjoy learning new things, so I've tried my hand at lots of different projects - hammers, axes, chisels, arrows, decorative items, simple copper jewelry, metal casting, mokume gane, etc.
Over the past couple of years I've been asked by people from the HEMA community for sharp swords, custom hilt parts, replacement blades for sparring weapons, and the like. I admire using hand tools and historical techniques, and if I have a machine for some operation, I usually first learn to perform that operation entirely by hand.
Current things I'd like to learn or improve at include forge welding, laminated blades, heat treatment, and wood carving tools.
I am currently traveling in Ireland.
