What we do
We dig iron ore from Irish bogs and convert it into metal using the ancient technique of bloomery smelting. This iron is then forged into tools, historical reproductions, or artistic pieces.
We like smelting iron, making bars, making iron objects and reproductions of artefacts.
We also sell our iron to blacksmiths and hobbyists.
What is bloomery smelting?
A bloomery furnace is the oldest method of producing iron, having been used for thousands of years throughout the Iron Age and into the early medieval period. We find this process particularly fascinating because it allows us to create iron with a beautiful natural pattern, preserving this lost art.
