The Level 2 Certificate in Forgework is awarded through City & Guilds and covers a wide range of areas related to the skills and knowledge required for progressing to further learning and training in Forgework, Blacksmithing or Farriery. The course runs one day a week (Wednesday) during the academic year from September 2025.
🔥 Course Content
The Certificate in Forgework proves you have essential basic forging skills, so you can go on to train as a Blacksmith or Farrier. Using safe working practices you will learn how to use forge hearths, forge metal and use specialist blacksmith’s tools.
During the course you will make a portfolio of pieces which include all the test pieces required for the externally assessed examination at the end of the course. You will also prepare for the practical exam at the end of the course where you will produce two test pieces.
Cost
CAFRE endeavors to ensure that the courses offered are affordable and accessible. 2025/2026 fees are £150.
